Shhh......

So I am throwing a big surprise 40th birthday party for my husband on Friday....it has been in the works for a couple of months so that means I have been nervous and worrying about it for that long also!! We are doing a Luau theme.....no roasted big or anything, just Hawaiian music, plastic leis, etc.....So does anyone have any fun ideas, recipes for food or drink, games to play, decoration advice, the name of some good songs to boogie down to......anything that can help would be much appreciated!! And please pray for good weather and that he doesn't find out and that it will be a fun surprise!! Of course, your all invited!!

Remember to Keep the Sabbath Day......

Holy is not how I begin to describe this last Sunday. After a world wind of getting children ready, myself ready, and dealing with a grumpy husband we were headed off to church, 1o minutes late of course!! My children have yet to become accustom to the nursery at church. So, I sit with them in their class so that they become settled and then attempt to leave.......peaceful you ask? NO!!! The kicking and screaming subsided after about 10 minutes. Momma Momma, Daddy Daddy.......RIDICULOUS!!! You would have thought I dropped them off at a concentration camp!!
So, I proceed to the sanctuary and find my place next to grumpy, I mean my husband. I try to enjoy the sermon.....please don't ask me what it was about. Apparently my job was to keep Matthew's eyes open. I jabbed him a number of times in the ribs, with dirty looks thrown at me as if I was doing something wrong!! I politely told him next time to stay HOME!!! My blood pressure this Sabbath was something unholy I am sure.
So, my question dear friends, is how to make your church morning run smoothly so that you don't have to ask forgiveness for the horrible thoughts that you have towards your family when you get to church!!!???

Flannel

That is the type of sheets that I have put on my bed this weekend!! The high has been about 52 for 4 or 5 days and it has been raining like we live in Seattle!! It is getting ridiculous!! It rained once the whole summer before this raining streak. I am not complaining about the moisture, because my new little grass seeds are loving it. I am complaining about the depressive mood this dreariness is causing me to have!! I feel like Eor!!
On a happier note.......I was able to see Momma Mia twice last week. One of the times I went with my mom and sister and Madison!! Her first movie wasn't even by Disney or Pixar!! She did enjoy all of the singing and dancing, and I must say, we have listening to Abba tunes off of Playlist all week!! I am not keen on musicals, bust this was a fun flick!!

The Grass Is Greener on The Other Side.....NOT!!

So you know that we have been in the process of putting in a sprinkler system and planting grass...so now the grass is greener on our side!!!

Here is the before, we planted on July 30th....And here it is 9 days later!!!


How cool is that!!! It's growing in so good.....a little sparse, but it is definately green!!! The front yard has been so icky for the 4 years that we have lived here that it is such a difference!! Matthew has been working so hard on this project and I am so thankful for all his effort!! Here he is admiring his handywork!!

Hangin with the Pros

So yesterday we went and hung out with Norman, Funk and Watson, and boy was it fun!! The 2008 Senior US Open was in town and at one of my favorited places..... The Broadmore Hotel.....

The course was beautiful and the weather was hot!! Matthew, myself and my brother in law Scott and his girlfriend Kara had a great time walking the course and watching how some real golf is played : ) They definately make it look easy. We watched Greg Norman and Tom Watson on the driving range before they teed off. It was pretty cool. Ramero ended up taking the $400,000 prize...not to bad for 5 days work!! One of the highlights was the bear that made himself at home on the course....
